Dodgie's passion for art started very early, just before he reached 10 years old. He represented his school Ateneo de Davao University (Philippines) in various inter-school art competitions throughout his grade school and high school years. He was also involved in school theatre productions for set designs, backdrops, lighting and special effects.

 

His parents have always been very supportive of his love for art as they put him through various art training, art mentorship programs with recognized local artists and eventually fine art education during his university years. He mastered various art mediums and freehand sketching but charcoal art has always has been his greatest strength. He has trained extensively and mastered painting with oil, enamel, acrylic, pastel and watercolour. He has also studied for many years in various mediums of sculpture.

 

His artistic talent was discovered not long after his family immigrated to Canada. This paved the way for him to debut his jewellery design career in the early 2000's. He continued to learn the trade with mentorship from a very good friend, David Howell. David was Independent Jewellers' jewellery designer at that time and is now a recognized Winnipeg artist.

 

Dodgie has been a jewellery designer for a few of Winnipeg's finest jewellery shops which include; IJL (Independent Jewellers), McGrath Diamonds and Epsilon Creations. Today, he is very proud to be part of Appelt's Diamonds and their amazing team where he continues to create his "wearable fine art" pieces of jewellery.

 

Dodgie is also a very well established fine art photographer, previously selling his stunning photographs in 5 retail locations. He started his professional studio in 2009, after many years of studying and building his body of work. His studio specializes in weddings, fashion portfolios, lifestyle portraits and with his expertise in macro photography, his photography has been well sought after.

 

Dodgie's love for art strengthens as years pass by as he continues to challenge himself daily. Through this process, he eagerly takes on each project with the same excitement as he showed as that 12-year-old child, eagerly learning from his mentors. The awards he has won throughout the years in his various disciplines are a sincere display of his passion for art. He humbly treasures his recognition but will cherish above all, the countless clients that have put their faith in his abilities and now enjoy the quality and the beauty of his stunning creations.
